Taoist Meditation

Taoist meditation focuses on concentration, mindfulness, contemplation, and visualization. It is interrelated with Buddhist Mediation.
Types of Meditation
DING 定: The "Ding" means to decide, settle, stabilize, and solidify. This technique of meditation was used to translate the Sanskritsamadi, from Chinese Buddhist texts. It is used for intent contemplation, intense concentration, and perfect absorption.
GUAN 觀: The "Guan" means to look at carefully, watch,and scrutinize. It is a type of observation meditation, a practice of open acceptance to sensory data (senses). It is used to merge individual consciousness and attain unity with the "Dao".
CUN 存: The "Cun" means to exist, live, and remain. "To cause to exist" and "to make present"

Practices of Meditation
Shuoyi : Involves ding, concentrative meditation, on a single point or god within the body. It is associated with Taoist alchemist and longevity techniques.
Neiguan: Visualizing in one's body and mind, including organs, deities, movements, and thought processes.
Yuanyou: Meditative travel to distant countries, sacred mountains, the sun and moon, and encounters with gods and descendants.
Zuobo: "Sitting meditation" that is linked to Buddhist meditation.
